14/06/2010 - Vonage picks Amdocs suite to improve customer service and product launches

As Vonage grows, it gets ever more important that the company provide quality customer service if they want to keep all those VoIP users from churning elsewhere. Enter Amdocs.

Vonage has chosen to adopt Amdocs BSS Pack which is an off-the-shelf customer service suite providing charging, ordering, product catalogs and activation management systems. Vonage hopes the new system will improve time-to-market for new products and services as well as provide a superior experience for customers.

Connected Planet's Susana Schwartz notes that most pure-play VoIP companies' customer interaction leave much to be desired, so this latest move from Vonage is both a welcome change and a step in the right direction for a company with bigger aspirations.

01/02/2010 - Zeacom adds gateway to Microsoft OCS

Zeacom, a Unified Communications (UC) and contact center software company, has introduced their Zeacom Gateway for Microsoft Office Communications Server. The OCS is a desktop app that allows enterprise companies to communicate across the business and outside using any Microsoft Office application or the OCS app.

The Zeacom Gateway will allow small- and medium-size enterprises to integrate their existing phone systems with the Microsoft OCS system making it easy to upgrade their systems to a UC platform. Using the Zeacom Gateway to upgrade their existing phone systems and connect to the Microsoft OCS companies will have access to new functionality like presence, Click-to-Dial, remote presence, and desktop sharing.

Cisco is developing a 320Mbps cable modem - the DPC3212.
It will be one of the first to use the DOCSIS 3.0 standard to pass 300Mbps.
