Mobile network player LightSquared, which in June signed a reseller agreement with VoIP device and service provider netTalk, today announced it had signed a multi-year deal with wholesale and retail VoIP provider VoX Communications to help VoX expand its mobile voice and video services.

LightSquared is in the process of building out a nationwide wireless broadband network, a combination of its hybrid LTE-satellite network and existing GPS services. The company has met resistance because of potential for interference between its network and GPS devices.

The agreement marks more than a dozen such deals between LightSquared at companies across a range of industries.

VoX has been working to add mobile functionality to its existing IP network platform by launching affordable new mobile services and applications. Last month it announced plans to launch a mobile app to use with Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android OS, in addition to its iOS app for Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) devices.

The deal with LightSquared, the company said, will allow it to offer high-speed data and satellite services to its existing and new customers.

"We've been closely following the rapid increase in mobile VoIP users, and determining how our company could take advantage of this new reality," said Mark Richards, president and chief information officer of VoX. "We believe that the LightSquared network and business model are creating a transformative moment for the industry, and will allow us to expand our portfolio so we can deliver a broad range of affordable and innovative mobile services to our customers."

VoX Communications is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pervasip Corp.
