Six months ago Telefonica acquired VoIP company Jajah. Now they've launched a new VoIP offering based on that acquisition called O2 Global Friends. The service first launched in Germany, but plans are to expand the service to other O2 markets in Europe.

O2 Global Friends will allow users to make international calls by dialing a local number. Much like T-Mobile's five 'Faves' program, O2 is allowing customers to pick five friends that they would like to make international calls to and the company will give each of those international numbers a local number for the customer to call. The calls are routed over the Internet and after a five euro activation fee, only cost 15 euro cents a minute.
