8x8 picks up Central Host

8x8 has acquired Central Host, a hosted computer services provider, adding new services and customers to its base.

Central Host provides web hosting services to businesses using managed servers. The move will add managed hosting and cloud computing services to 8x8's business service offerings. The acquisition will also mean Central Host's customers will have access to 8x8's hosted communications offerings--a potential expansion of 8x8's customer base.

8x8 paid $1 million and issued 432,276 shares of common stock to Central Host's sole shareholder.

"By harnessing the strengths of this great team, I believe we have what we need to scale our cloud-based computing services to become the next major player in the managed hosting service market," said Andy Schwabecher, Central Host's Founder and now General Manager of Managed Hosting and Cloud-Based Computing at 8x8, Inc. in a release.
