The great thing Unified Communications (UC) is its propensity to bring various pieces of the puzzle together by getting companies with complementary services to team up. Today at IT Expo, Siemens Enterprise Communications Group (SEN Group) and Polycom announced their new UC partnership.
Under the strategic alliance and global resale agreement, Siemens will be adding Polycom's telepresence, high definition video conferencing solutions and desktop video collaboration applications to its OpenScape UC platform. Siemens will also be offering its customers Polycom video communication solutions under the reseller agreement and both SEN Group and Polycom will offer 24/7 monitoring and support for the products where customer IT teams lack the knowledge of dealing with the systems.
"Video communication is becoming a key component of UC, and helps to dramatically improve the productivity of our customers," said Mark Stone, chairman and chief executive officer of the SEN Group in the release. "Working with Polycom enables us to deliver on our Open Communications commitment and enhance our leading OpenScape UC platform with a full range of UC-enabled video solutions."
